On shipping

1 min read

The hardest part of building isn't the building. It's deciding something is done enough to put in front of people.

Real artists ship. — Steve Jobs

A few rules I try to keep:

  1. Scope down before you slow down. A smaller thing shipped beats a bigger thing stuck.
  2. The feedback loop is the product. You learn nothing from code that never runs in someone else's hands.
  3. Polish what people touch. The first screen matters more than the last.

None of this is new. But it's easy to forget when you're staring at the diff.
